Trip reports, project updates, and every random thing that crosses my mind along the 500-mile Sierra Nevada loop.

Finding the way around

The aim: 500 miles in one continuous Sierra Nevada loop. This is where I’ll work through the design and the research behind it.

A detailed route hasn’t been published yet. Until then, this page is a place for the questions that need answers—not a navigation guide.

Questions for the research

  • How can the different sections connect into a continuous loop?
  • What access, permits and seasonal conditions need checking?
  • Where might resupply and alternative options fit into the plan?
  • Which assumptions need to be checked against current, reliable information?

Decisions, with the thinking attached

As the design develops, I’ll share the reasoning behind it here. Any route diagrams or project files will be added when they’re ready to share.

Keep following the thread.

The research, the preparation and the passing thoughts all belong to the same journey.
